Flint Vineyard launch its 2018 vintage, enjoy a lunch with a difference!

Norfolk -based Flint Vineyard is launching its 2018 vintage this weekend, to coincide with the start of the summer tour season.

The vineyard, whose wines are now being sold by Berry Brothers & Rudd and Fortnum and Mason in London, has doubled its production every year since its debut 2016 release. 2018 was the best growing season on record for the English wine industry and Flint Vineyard is set to release 32,000 bottles of its 2018 vintage this month.

The new release includes the winery’s first ever traditional-method, bottle-aged sparkling wine. This follows the success of Flint’s Charmat-method sparkling rosé, made using the same technique as Prosecco, which was described by wine critic Matthew Jukes as "the finest Charmat-method wine I have ever tasted from any country in the world."

The 2018 vintage also features the vineyard’s signature Bacchus and Pinot Noir, both of which were sold out by Christmas last year, and their new Silex Blanc, which is a barrel fermented and food friendly white wine.

The vineyard, who won Best Newcomer 2018 at the EDP Food & Drink Awards, opens its doors for the first tours of the season on Saturday 6th April. Last summer over 2,000 visitors took part in the vineyard and winery tours and enjoyed the vineyard’s unique ’15 Mile Lunch’. This sharing board showcases the finest local producers, all located within 15 miles of the vineyard. On the menu is Baron Bigod Brie from Fen Farm Dairy (Bungay, Suffolk), St Jude cheese from White Wood Diary(Bungay, Suffolk), Marsh Pig charcuterie (Claxton, Norfolk) and artisan bread from Hempnall Village Bakery. New for this year is the addition of Norfolk producer Eastgate Larder’s Medlar Jelly, made especially for Flint using Medlar fruit grown in nearby Pulham Market.

Owner, Hannah Witchell, commented: "We cannot wait to kick start the 2019 season. We had such a demand for our 15 Mile Lunch that we have increased our dining area and also have a new shop this year with space for customers to pop in to taste and buy wines, even if they are not booked on a tour or lunch."

Tours, tastings and lunch are available every Saturday from and can be booked online or by phone 01986 893 942.
