OakVilla Distillery in Wymondham wins another International Wine and Spirit Award with Vryheid Gin
OakVilla Distillery is delighted to announce that we have won a Silver award for Vryheid gin at this year’s International Wine & Spirit Competition.
This is the second year in a row that OakVilla Distillery has been awarded a prestigious International award for Vryheid gin.
The aim of the IWSC is to award excellence in international wines and spirits worldwide, encouraging recognition for quality products.
The IWSC, sets the international benchmark for quality and reward only the very best wines and spirits in the world. Today the IWSC has over 400 global experts judging awards for seven months of the year. The award, which will be presented at the Guildhall in London, is considered to be one of the highest honours in the industry. Judging for the Competition is unique in that it has two stages; first, the products are tasted blind by expert panels, selected from over 400 fully experienced and qualified industry judges. Products which receive the top medals are then subject to secondary technical analysis.
“We are awestruck to have won such a prestigious award consecutively for two years” said the Hancke family. “As a small-batch craft gin distillery we didn’t expect to win an award this year as the competition becomes more competitive and scoring was adapted by the IWSC to reflect the crowded market. The IWSC is seen as the Oscars of the wine and spirit industry and we are bringing an award home to Wymondham”
Vryheid Gin is sold at independent wine merchants and available at prestigious hotels, restaurants and pubs around Norfolk.
