Buy Local Norfolk merges with Proudly Norfolk Food and Drink

After what has been an incredible journey over some 20 years, Proudly Norfolk Food and Drink will be handing over the reins of the not-for-profit organisation to Buy Local Norfolk.

This is a very exciting merger, creating a fantastic opportunity to build an even larger and more diverse network of independent Norfolk businesses.

PNFAD and before it, Norfolk Food and Drink has over the years supported and promoted its members, loudly and proudly. It has an enviable position as the leading voice in the County’s food and drink sector. Its strength came from its range of awesome members, its fantastic Patrons, Sponsors, supporters, and the volunteer board. The organisation hosted many successful events around the county, which included the infamous ‘Battle of the Bangers’.

The current board of six Directors have spent the last 3 years, under the leadership of Sarah Daniels, of the RedCat Partnership, growing the membership, which is now an active and engaged community of wonderful Norfolk based businesses of all shapes and sizes. The organisation’s profile has continued to grow and our partnerships with a variety of media, businesses, venues, and campaigns mean we are recognised as an influential voice within the food and drink sector locally and nationally.

Sarah states, that many businesses have pivoted as a result of the pandemic, and it now seems an opportune moment in time to bring the two organisations together as one, strengthening the local business support network across a broad and diverse sector representation.

For those who do not already know, Buy Local Norfolk is a not-for-profit social enterprise and is managed by a board of volunteer Directors. We organise regular monthly networking and publish a directory biannually and usually print a total of around 13-15,000 copies a year. BLN holds its own events and also attends various other events throughout the year, including having a large presence at the Royal Norfolk Show.

With the assistance of our influx of food and drink members, we hope to increase the number of events which Buy Local Norfolk attends in the future.

Proudly Norfolk Food and Drink and Buy Local will be hosting a joint stand as this years Norfolk Chambers Business Exhibition at the Norfolk Showground on October 14th. The event will be well catered for with food and drink stalls from Zaks, Currylicious, Dann’s Ice Cream, Give it Some Beanz, and the Break Coffee Van. The event is free to attend.

With the ticketed ‘After Networking’ event being welcomed with Fizz from The Norfolk Wine School, Canapes from the Feed and both Cocktails and Mocktails from Mindful Mixology.

This event will enable us to suitably celebrate all our achievements, over the last 20 years and put behind us, the dilemmas that we have faced over the most challenging trading period in living memory, during the last 18 months.

Following that the next BLN event is the Christmas Expo which is in The Forum on the 1st of December, and we look forward to a great start to the festive season.

This is a very exciting time for us all, as the coming together of two groups with very similar aims and values, the merger will enable us to be stronger and offer many more opportunities to shout about Norfolk’s range of independent businesses.

We look forward to exciting times ahead.
